Bangladesh shares a long-standing and deep bilateral relationship with Malaysia, one of the most influential economic powers in Southeast Asia. Notably, Malaysia was the first Southeast Asian country to recognize the independence of Bangladesh.
For decades, Malaysia has remained one of the largest labor markets for Bangladesh, with over 1.2 million Bangladeshi expatriates currently employed in various sectors. Malaysia ranks as the fourth-largest destination for Bangladeshi manpower exports.
On March 16, 2025, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mohammad Shuhada Othman, visited the WAMY Center in Shafipur, Gazipur, under the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) Bangladesh office.
Upon his arrival at the WAMY Center, Dr. Mohammad Redwanur Rahman, Director of WAMY Bangladesh, warmly welcomed the Honorable Ambassador with flowers.
During his visit, His Excellency toured key facilities of WAMY Center, including the Dream Homes-the orphanage center, canteen, library, computer lab, and mosque. Additionally, the master plan of the WAMY Center was presented to the esteemed guest, showcasing the organization's vision for future development.
He also attended a students' program at the Hall Room, where he engaged with students from various schools, listening to their aspirations and encouraging them in their academic pursuits.
The Honorable Ambassador then delivered an inspirational speech for the children of Dream Homes, emphasizing the importance of education and perseverance in achieving success.
At the event, Dr. Imadur Rahman, CEO and Managing Director of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited, and an eminent scientist, also addressed the gathering, offering insightful words to the orphaned children and adolescents of Dream Homes.
As a special gesture, the Honorable Ambassador presented awards to the winners of the Ramadan Quiz Competition, an initiative organized for students from the surrounding areas of the WAMY Center, further encouraging a culture of learning and excellence.
The visit concluded with a prayer and a heartfelt iftar program, where the Ambassador joined the children and staff in breaking their fast together, strengthening the spirit of unity and compassion.
We sincerely thank the Honorable Ambassador for visiting the WAMY Center and dedicating his valuable time to the orphans.
May Allah accept all these efforts for His pleasure and continue to bless those who serve humanity. Ameen.
